Corral Hollow Visibility/Viewfield Analysis
There was a need to address water supply to the development of Corral Hollow. One of the alternatives was to create a dam in the foothills adjacent to the project site. The developers were concerned with the visual impacts locating a large dam near the project site. The adjacent foothills provided a nice aesthetic and a premium price to respective units which the developers did not want to compromise. PACE created a series of viewshed analysis with 3D Analyst for ArcGIS. PACE was able to determine which lots and locations along the project site would be able to see the dam alternatives. PACE analyzed the viewshed at various heights which included storage capacity in acre feet, the acreage, and water surface elevations for each alternative. After the analysis PACE was able to determine that the amount of residents that would be visually impacted by the dam did not seem a viable solution given the amount of water return.
