Mountain House, CA
PACE provided design and construction administration services for a new multi-zone potable water storage and booster pumping facility for the Mountain House Community Services District. Within the architecturally pleasing pump house structure are two sets of potable water booster pumps, a pressure reducing / sustaining valving and metering station, and two 3.7-million-gallon pre-stressed water storage tanks. The 150-foot-diameter, 31-foot-tall tanks were constructed partially underground to reduce the aesthetic impacts to the adjacent community college and residential development.
The booster pump station’s two 3,500- and 5,500-gallon-per-minute (gpm) pumping systems provide drinking water and fire protection to approximately 8,500 homes and associated commercial and educational development. The station has redundant pumps, automatically transferred backup power, disinfection injection and monitoring, and full remote telemetry and security systems with full-motion video surveillance.
PACE also designed the remote 5,000 gpm Westside Pump Station with two main pumps, an intermediate flow pump, and a low flow pump. All of the pumps within the station are controlled by variable frequency drive (VFD) to maintain constant system pressure. A backup power generator is connected to the station by an automatic transfer switch for uninterrupted service in case of power failure. The station was installed within an aesthetic, sound-controlled building with security features including video surveillance.
Throughout the process, PACE provided engineering support for the municipality and County permitting submittals.
