Gilbert Regional Park Lake

PACE designed the 7-acre lake, filled with recycled water, as part of the Gilbert Regional Park to provide irrigation storage, habitats for aquatic wildlife, and to serve as an aesthetic and recreational feature for the community. To integrate seamlessly with the park’s landscape and features, the lake incorporates diverse shoreline treatments such as rock edges, cantilevered decks, retaining walls, and planter shorelines. Altogether, the shoreline stretches 2,500 feet.

The main recreational use of the lake is fishing. To support this, the design includes two dedicated features: a stocking shoreline and a fishing pier. The stocking shoreline enables the Town of Gilbert to efficiently restock fish in the lake, while the fishing pier provides a designed area for public fishing. A continuous sidewalk surrounds the lake, allowing visitors to access and walk alongside the water’s edge. Additionally, an amphitheater, located adjacent to the lake and not designed by PACE, hosts public concerts and provides additional amenities to the park space.

To maintain water quality and prevent stagnation, a vertical turbine pump, located in the lake’s pump station, recirculates water from the wet well back into the lake at the wetland planters. The lake is further supported by 12 aeration diffusers to increase dissolved oxygen at the lake bottom, aluminum sulfate injections to reduce phosphorus levels, and lake dye treatments to limit algae growth through reduced photosynthesis.
