City of Bisbee, Arizona Wastewater Treatment Plant Solar Array Addition Receives Multiple Accolades
The City of Bisbee’s San Jose Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Solar Array Addition project led by PACE has received two awards this year for its positive contributions towards clean water and energy management. Award recognition includes the prestigious Arizona American Public Works Association (APWA) Small Cities/Rural Communities 2016 Project of the Year – Environment Clean Water Project of the Year and the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) 2015 Clean Water Project of the Year.
This $1.6 million infrastructure project mitigates environmental impacts by utilizing a renewable energy source to power the City of Bisbee’s wastewater treatment operations. The 400kW solar system currently produces 89% of the electricity required to run the plant and saves the City of Bisbee approximately $20,000 – $30,000 annually after financing costs.
