Gila County Community Breaks Ground on Wastewater Improvements Decades in the Making
TRSD Wastewater Collection and Treatment System – Gila County, AZ
The Tri-City Regional Sanitary District recently broke ground for phase I of its wastewater collection and treatment system project, beginning construction on over 16 miles of sewer pipeline, a 750 gpm main lift station, 4 residential lift stations, and a 0.25 MGD advanced water reclamation facility (WRF) to serve approximately 750 new residential and business user connections. This marks a huge milestone in replacing the region’s reliance on cesspools and septic tanks for sewage management. The new advanced water treatment facility is designed treat the region’s wastewater to produce effluent meeting Arizona Title 18 Class A+ reclaimed water standards for non-potable reuse, supporting conservation of local drinking water supply. Two additional phases are planned to expand the project to include over 30 miles of sewer pipeline, 2 main lift stations, 6 residential lift stations, 1,930 residential and business connections, and a 0.50 MGD WRF at full buildout.
